“Health
Tourism Workshop” Held as Part of the “Restoration of Belkısana Hısta
Historical Bath Project in Şırnak Province”
The
"Health Tourism Workshop" was organized within the scope of the
“Restoration of Belkısana Hısta Historical Bath Project in Şırnak Province.”
The workshop was held in partnership with the Şırnak Governorship, Güçlükonak
District Governorship, and Şırnak University. Participants included District
Governor Ökkeş Furkan Karakurt, Mayor Selahattin Aktuğ, District Police Chief
Mahmud Esad Katıksız, District Gendarmerie Commander Major Yusuf Karadeniz,
Fındık Mayor Abdulselam İmre, Provincial Director of Culture and Tourism Celal
Baz, TÜRSAB Provincial Representative Uğur Özalp, Dr. Lecturer Rıdvan Solmaz,
Dr. Lecturer Engin Turan, representatives of NGOs, and many local residents.
In the
opening speech of the workshop, District Governor Ökkeş Furkan Karakurt emphasized
that Güçlükonak holds significant potential not only in health tourism but also
in cultural, faith-based, and nature tourism, and stated that efforts are being
made to unlock this potential.
Moderated by
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sedat Çelik, the workshop featured several presentations. Dr.
Lecturer Gökhan Kadırhan from Şırnak University School of Tourism and Hotel
Management spoke about the importance of health tourism and government
incentives. Dr. Lecturer Veysel Tahiroğlu from the Faculty of Health Sciences
discussed the health benefits of the Güçlükonak Belkısana thermal springs and
outlined recommendations for development. Following the presentations, the
challenges facing the development of health tourism in Güçlükonak and potential
solutions were discussed.
At the end of the workshop, District Governor Ökkeş Furkan Karakurt presented certificates of appreciation to Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sedat Çelik, Dr. Lecturer Gökhan Kadırhan, Dr. Lecturer Veysel Tahiroğlu, and project coordinator Hikmet Özek. Following the program, participants conducted an on-site visit to the Güçlükonak thermal springs.
