The Guhşegi game, which is described as “the ancestor of American Baseball”, was turned into a book by the lecturers of our university's School of Tourism and Hotel Management. Şırnak University Secretary General Assist. Assoc. Prof. Dr. İbrahim Baz informed the members of the press at a press conference about the Guhşegi book, which emerged as a result of about 6 months of work.

Speaking at the introductory meeting held in the meeting hall of our university, Secretary General of our university Assist. Assoc. Prof. Dr. İbrahim Baz underlined that one of the main objectives of universities is to research and examine the local values and cultural values of the cities where they are located and to turn these cultural values into scientific resources, and said; “all civilizations have risen on the shoulders of cities. However, the history of cities has not been as important and written as the history of civilizations. That is why the local values of many cities have disappeared over time, and many of them have even disappeared without reaching the present day. Şırnak also has many values belonging to the oral culture that are about to disappear. As Şırnak University, we have many projects to bring these cultural values to light and make them a heritage of our country and the world. One of them was the Guşegi play, which we turned into a book today. Lecturers Nurdan Şarman, Sedat Çelik, Nurgül Avcı and Selim Arafat Kemaloğlu, our Press, Publications and Public Relations Specialist, have prevented the disappearance of a cultural value belonging to Şırnak by publishing the Guşegi play in a book. I would like to thank them for taking part in such a book. In addition, Susin Gören and Ayzıt Görücü, our specialists at the Directorate of Press, Publications and Public Relations, have also made significant efforts in the editing and design of the book, and I would like to thank them as well.

Our General Secretary Assist. Prof. Dr. İbrahim Baz said that as the School of Tourism and Hotel Management, they have separate studies on laments, which are a common culture in the region, and on the plays of Şırnak province, and that they plan to publish these studies in a book in May. Our General Secretary Assist. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Baz stated that they will exhibit all their works at the International Cudi Festival in September, which they will organize together with the governorship, municipality and chamber of industry and commerce.
