Şırnak University Secretary General
Assist. Assoc. Prof. Dr. İbrahim Baz said that as faculty members they want to
change the negative perception of Şırnak and in this context they want to
reveal the richness of the city in terms of oral and abstract culture.
Stating that even the
citizens living in the city do not know Şırnak well enough, Baz said, “In this
case, people in the west cannot be expected to know this city. Within the scope
of the project we prepared, our first study was the book 'Guhşegi'. We prepared
the book 'Şırnak Games' with Nurdan Şarman, Deputy Director of Şırnak
University School of Tourism and Hotel Management, and lecturers.”
Assist. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Baz stated that
while preparing the book, the inventory of the games in the city center and
districts was collected and citizens were interviewed, and that they saw from
these interviews that many of the local games were about to be forgotten.
“Our hope is to produce 18 works in 18 months,” said Secretary General of
our University Assist. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Baz and explained that they are happy
to prepare the third work.
Baz emphasized that their aim is for the new generation to learn these
games and grow up by playing these games and said: “We want children to take
some time away from computer games and learn these games. We want these books
to be branded. Our 3rd book we sent for printing is 'Şırnak Walking Stick'. The
4th book we will prepare will be 'Şırnak Tribes' and the 5th book will be
'Şırnak Tales'.”
